Annual Back to School Project

Thank you for considering our 1808 Back2Sch project. This project is dedicated to providing education opportunities for out of school children, particularly those who have been displaced by the ongoing insurgency in Nigeria. Over the years, the number of out of school children has increased significantly due to the unabated insurgency, which has displaced them from their homes. While many of them live in IDP camps, others are roaming the streets, as they have lost their parents or guardians to the violence.

If these children are not returned to school, many of them will be at risk of being recruited into militia groups, which will further heighten the insurgency and expose them to being killed or their aspirations cut short. According to UNICEF, Nigeria has 20 million out of school children, and this number is growing by the day. If we don't intervene now, the level of terrorism will grow, as these children can easily be groomed into becoming terrorists.

Our 1808 Back2Sch project provides rich and varied experiences to the students, thereby building their knowledge, boosting their creativity skills and increasing their cognitive skills. This will reduce the danger of them being recruited into militia or terrorist groups, as well as restore hope and self-confidence. The project will also equip teachers with child protection knowledge and basic skills on child development.

By supporting this project, you will be helping to reduce the danger of these children being exposed to violence and terrorism, as well as boosting the economic viability of the communities in which they live. 2000 children back in school will reduce the level of insecurity and street begging in the community. Investing in the education of these children is not only investing in their future, but also in the future of the society and world at large.

Leaderjoe 1808 Charity has been carrying out back to school projects for several years, and we currently have 102 children in our scholarship scheme. We have also successfully hosted a national junior golf tournament to promote back to school.

We have a well-trained monitoring and evaluation team, in partnership with UNICEF and other governmental agencies, to ensure that we are gathering the necessary feedback and measuring the impact of our project.

We are requesting funding of £48,000 for our Back2Sch project, which will be used for the following:

- Payment of tuition fees for 2000 pupils

- Distribution of educational materials

- Provision of school uniform

- To equip teachers with child protection knowledge and basic skills on child development

- To evaluate the beneficiaries and encourage them by establishing in them a sense of belonging

This project will be carried out in Abuja, Sokoto, Kaduna and Borno State. We will partner with UNICEF, local community chiefs and other local NGOs to ensure the success of the project.

Leaderjoe 1808 Charity is an organisation that is dedicated to improving the lives of the most vulnerable and disadvantaged people in our society. We have a proven track record of delivering successful projects, and we are confident that with your support, we will be able to continue making a difference in the lives of these children.
